Workforce plan: who covers the extra work?

A sample interactive deck on one decision: how should we cover the extra work? Three plans: A. contractors only, B. hire, C. automate plus hire. The team must absorb extra work for the next 24 months, counted in full-time-equivalent staff (FTE: one person working full time). Change any input, and every slide recalculates, its title included. Every figure is invented. It is not any company's data.

Use ← and → to move between slides. Read down the storyline on the leftabove: the titles alone tell the argument, and they rewrite themselves as you change the case.

Source: the invented assumptions in the sidebar and the Held-fixed line. How: month-by-month model, before tax. Monthly costs are rounded to the dollar; the totals come from the unrounded figures, so the rounded rows may not add up exactly to them. Left out: tax, financing, inflation and attrition (every hire stays the full 24 months).

Why an interactive deck? A static deck shows only the few combinations its authors picked, so a doubtful reader can only question the picks. Here the reader tests their own, and the meeting can spend its time on which assumptions to believe. The separate scenario lab takes the same approach further, with every lever and the month-by-month workings for the launch case.
